RALEIGH — Some taxpayers are having to wait a little longer to get their federal refunds.

IRS officials say their computers had to be updated and it slowed down their ability to process requests. This means people who filed before Jan. 26 are experiencing delays of up to a week.

IRS spokesperson Mark Hanson said things are back to normal after a rough start.

"Rest assured, they will get their money, and for taxpayers filing now, it is business as usual at the IRS,” said Hanson.

People whose returns were filed after Jan. 26 will not experience any delays.
