CHARLOTTE - Local and federal authorities are investigating another breach of security at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport.

Officials say 24-year-old Jamal Frazier, from South Carolina, hopped a barbed wire fence early Thursday morning. An airline employee later found him in an area used for takeoffs and landings.

No one was hurt and no flights were delayed, but city officials say it's another example of the importance of airport safety.

"Our job is to make that as difficult as possible and I think we're trying to do that," said Charlotte City Councilman Michael Barnes.

He says with more than 19 miles of fencing protecting the property, the main thing the city can do is ensure the airport has every tool necessary at its disposal.

"I think the role that we play is to make sure that the funding is in place to provide for the security needs and the security tools to make sure the airport is a safe property,” added Barnes.

Fraizer is due in court March 9.

The Transportation Security Administration released a statement saying, "The TSA and the airport are continuing to review the matter and also want to recognize the swift action of the airline employees and the role they play in the layered approach to security."
