NEWTON, N.C. – Adam Baker's lawyer wants a trial on charges of identity theft and obtaining property by false pretenses moved from Catawba County due to publicity surrounding the death of his daughter, Zahra.
Baker's lawyer filed a motion requesting a change of venue last week.
Adam Baker's wife, Elisa Baker, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in connection with her 10-year-old stepdaughter's death.
Prosecutors don't believe Adam Baker was connected to his daughter's death but his attorney says he was still linked to the case in the public's mind.
