CHARLOTTE β News 14 Carolina's Heather Waliga emceed the unveiling of the Go Red for Women Survivor's Gallery on Thursday night.
The gallery has photos of women who have dealt with heart disease and their story. The American Heart Association says heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women, causing one in three deaths each year.
The exhibit is designed to raise awareness.
βIt will travel from lobby to lobby during the next year and show the stories and what has happened and inspire women to make changes, educate them on heart disease and what they can do to prevent that from happening to themsevles,β said Chrissy Malinky, director of development of Go Red for Women.
Thursday night's event also included the debut of the Go Red Tell Five Video. The goal is for each woman to tell five friends about the dangers of heart disease and hopefully save other lives.
News 14 Carolina was a sponsor of the event.
