CHARLOTTE -- A group of Charlotte high school students spent the summer collecting books to help improve literacy for students in Lexington City. The book drive was part of the Echo Foundation's Footsteps Global Initiative.
Eleven student ambassadors collected more than 2,500 new and gently used children's books for students to help bolster literacy in the area.
You can still make a donation to the project, just bring a new or gently used book to the Echo Foundation's Office on East Morehead Street in Charlotte.
