CHARLOTTE – NASCAR is moving the date of its hall of fame induction weekend. The four living inductees of next year's class were at the announcement Tuesday of NASCAR Acceleration Weekend.

The event, set for Jan. 20, 2012, combines the induction ceremony with a preview of upcoming racing season. Fans can attend autograph sessions with current and former drivers and other fan-friendly activities.

"It made perfect sense to merge the history with the present and have a whole weekend of events, unveil the new exhibits, induct the hall of famers and have a fan event with the current stars of NASCAR. So, it made perfect sense to us," said hall of fame executive director Winston Kelley.

Tickets for NASCAR Acceleration Weekend, including the hall of fame induction ceremony and season preview, go on sale Sept. 20.
