RALEIGH -- Senator Kay Hagan talked about ongoing negations in Washington regarding the debt ceiling Monday.

During an appearance at the Digi Girlz camp, Hagan touted the importance of STEM education to the young ladies participating.

But the senator also weighed in on the slow pace of talks between Republican leaders and the Obama administration regarding the nation's debt ceiling.

"If you think of the fact that military pay may not be going forward, social security benefits not being paid, tax refunds not getting out there, that is absolutely irresponsible,” said Hagan. “It is time for that Democrats and Republicans come together, put everything on the table and solve this problem."

Hagan added Washington just wants politics as usual, which she says is not good for the economy.
