If you are looking for a quick way to spruce up a room, there's nothing better than a fresh coat of paint.
"The most popular thing right now is doing accent walls. Like we have back here. Actually choosing one wall, which is normally a focal point, and changing the color a little bit," said Matthew Maddalone, the owner of Painting by M Homes.
Those who have young children at home, taking their crayons and markers to the dining room walls need not to be concerned.
"When you have a lot of kids and you're worried about finger prints and what not. I recommend not using a flat. Use something that has a bit more of a sheen to it, like semi-gloss. It's easy to wash and clean. That way you don't have to worry about the kids marking up the walls. They can be cleaned quickly," said Maddalone.
In actuality, just a couple of hours with a roller can transform any room in your house. And best of all, it is a cheap way to help your house sell if you decide to put it on the market.
"Paint it using neutral colors. Which not only makes it more appealing to buyers walking through, but it also makes your rooms look larger and feel larger too. With those things in mind, it will help you sell your house faster and get closer to your asking price," said Maddalone.
Maddalone reminds people that not all paint is created equal! When it comes to your largest investment, he recommends using a trusted, brand-name paint like Behr or Benjamin Moore. The couple of extra bucks will be well worth it in the long run.
