Highway Patrol cracks down on drinkers and speeders

GREENSBORO — North Carolina Highway Patrol Troopers are working to put the brakes on drunk drivers and speeders over the holiday weekend.
Extra troopers are out on interstates and highways checking for those who are not buckled up, appear to be impaired, or are going too fast. People who are celebrating the holiday with alcohol, troopers said the best thing to do is ask a friend to be your designated driver prior to start drinking.
"We're doing a Booze It or Lose It campaign just to focus on drinking and driving and make sure the highways are safe. Keep the highways safe and make sure people aren't putting others in danger," said Trooper Mitchell Gordy of the N.C. Highway Patrol.
