CHAPEL HILL -- Media outlets received records Thursday concerning the NCAA investigation into the UNC football team.
In the documents, 11 players racked up 395 parking tickets totaling more than $13,000 between 2007 and 2010. It's unclear if the tickets were paid off or who paid them.
"Student-athletes at Carolina do not receive special treatment when it comes to parking," UNC said in a statement Thursday. "They get tickets just like any other student, staff member or visitor to campus would."
The documents include cell phone and land line records for Coach Butch Davis, Athletic Director Dick Baddour and former Defensive Line Coach John Blake.
The NCAA began investigating the program last July following allegations of improper relationships between players and agents and academic misconduct. Fourteen players missed some or all of the last season's games. Two players were declared permanently ineligible and one was kicked off the team.
Wednesday, the N.C. Court of Appeals denied the University of North Carolina's petition to delay the release of the records. A number of media outlets, including News 14 Carolina, sued for the release of these documents. In April, Judge Howard Manning sided with the media on most issues.
UNC cited the privacy concerns of its students in its appeal saying it has been forthcoming and already released more than 23,000 pages of documents.
