CHARLOTTE – It took two years, but US Airways flight 1549 arrived Friday in Charlotte.

The plane was originally bound for the Queen City two years ago, but was forced to land on the Hudson River after a bird strike. For the last week the plane traveled down the East Coast to its final resting place at the Carolina Aviation Museum.

“I was supposed to be on that plane,” said Beverly Farmer, who came out to welcome the plane.

The flight was supposed to take off from LaGuardia Airport and eventually land at Charlotte/Douglas.

“I booked myself on the 1549 flight and I sat there with all the passengers waiting to get on the plane, but something came over me, something said to me 'don't get onto the plane,'” she said

Farmer got on another flight while 1549 skidded to a safe stop on the Hudson River.

Two sections of the plane's tail arrived at the museum last week. When the rest of the plane arrives, US Airways mechanics will reassemble it and put it on permanent display at the Carolinas Aviation Museum.
