CHARLOTTE-- Wells Fargo launched its first "Day of Caring" volunteer event Saturday morning.
More than 1,200 Wells Fargo employees volunteered with their friends and family at non-profit agencies around the Charlotte area. The first volunteer event began at the YWCA on Park Road where the volunteers will be landscaping as part of one of their beautification projects.
"When you have so many employees in one area you can really make a difference," said Wells Fargo Community Affairs Manager Jay Everette.
The Day of Caring is the largest volunteer event in the company's history, consisting of more than 60 vonlunteer projects. They will volunteer at not only the YWCA but also at more than 30 agencies in the Charlotte area.
The event is a unique collaboration between Wells Fargo and several non profit organizations like the Charlotte Community Tool Bank which provides all the tools for these types of projects at a discount.
Wells Fargo employees said the project is an event that brings them great satisfaction to be a part of.
"To make a difference for these non-profit organizations that do such great work and help so many constituents, but need help themselves," said Everette.
