WILMINGTON -- For one week, food lovers get to take advantage of delicious meals at affordable prices at some of the best eateries in New Hanover County. During Encore Magazine's restaurant week, nearly 40 venues offer customers prix fixe menus or discounts.

The week helps put some new restaurants names on the map and also reminds customers of their old favorite spots.

The Eat Spot owner Jason Godwin said restaurant week boosts his business.

"It brings people down to the downtown area especially when more restaurants are, you know a lot of places have opened in the last year and are no longer here because it's tough," said Godwin, who's restaurant sits on Front Street in downtown Wilmington. "But restaurant week will help get people out."

Encore Magazine promoted restaurant week in Raleigh, Charlotte and Greensboro to expose visitors to the region's culinary scene and kick off tourist season early.
