CHARLOTTE – Officials with Discovery Place said Friday that a new exhibit that opens next week will challenge visitors' to think differently about race.
John Mackay, the museum's president and CEO, says “Race: Are We So Different?” may touch on an uncomfortable subject but it will broaden people's opportunity for understanding.
“Even in the times we're in and the context we've been living through in the last several months, it really will help,” he said.
This exhibit comes to town just weeks after Charlotte was targeted by the local and state NAACP for holding a make-up school day on Martin Luther King Day.
The exhibit opens Saturday and runs through May 8. Charlotte is its first stop in the Southeast.
