WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, N.C. — Along the edge of the Sand Dunes at Wrightsville Beach you can find a place where secrets are told.

There is a mailbox that sits near the Bird Sanctuary at the North end of the island. Inside the mailbox you will find a notebook and letters full of moments that people share with complete strangers. Bobbi Flynn is visiting Wrightsville Beach from Burlington North Carolina she said she has never seen anything like the small little box.

"I don't even know how to describe it. I feel very fortunate that we even get to see it. It's like random people do random good things and this is one of those people and I am really excited to be next to it," said Flynn.

It's a place where people share their thoughts and feeling between all that read and write in the book. Jeff Davis from Charlotte said it's a place where broken hearts look for answers, people go to reflect and sometimes ask for help from others.

No one seems to know just who the keeper of the mailbox is, but they said it doesn't matter. The book is a common thread of written communication shared between all.

"And I don't know who keeps it up. I just know different elements are brought in. Seasonally for example they will bring in a twig tree and decorate it with shells. It's amazing, it's just really refreshing and it's something to look forward to every year," said Raleigh resident Lisa Mamo.

You can find the mailbox at the North end of Wrightsville Beach near Figure Eight Island. It sits around the bend from Shell Island Resort.
