NASH COUNTY, N.C. -- Authorities in Nash County spent most of the day investigating skeletal remains of two bodies. Deputies say people riding all-terrain vehicles in a field along Quarter Road near Rocky Mount called Tuesday night to report the bodies.

Authorities said evidence at the scene indicates that the bodies are not connected to a series of cases involving women who disappeared from Rocky Mount in recent years.

Meanwhile authorities are treating this as a murder investigation.

Autopsies are pending.
