CONCORD -- Police are investigating a fire set in an apartment complex office that employees say may be linked to recent threats by residents. The fire happened Thursday morning at the Greens Apartment Complex in Concord.

Employees say there's been mounting tension between some residents and a new apartment manager who employees say has just been enforcing the rules. Crime scene technicians were out at the apartment office, dusting for fingerprints, collecting evidence and examining the damage. Police say the fire call came in around 6:30 a.m. When police and the fire department showed up, they found the fire inside the apartment complex office.

"Someone had forced entry into the office and started the fire," said Dep. Chief Guy Smith with Concord police. "The fire was put out and there's minor damage at this time."

Police say whoever is responsible will be charged with arson and breaking and entering.
