HALIFAX COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities found the body of a Wake County man who disappeared at Lake Gaston.

Halifax County Sheriff's Deputies said Karl Besas, 24, never made it back to his boat, after he and some friends decided to go swimming last Friday night. Authorities say they located his body Wednesday afternoon. A family spokesperson issued a statement saying, "It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our beautiful beloved son, Karl. Karl was a wonderful son, brother and loved by everyone that was fortunate enough to have know him. He touched us all and will be greatly missed."

There is no word yet on funeral arrangements.
