CHARLOTTE — A Butler High School football player is due in court on Wednesday to face rape charges.

Jail records show Osvaldo Sombo, 17, was arrested on August 11. The Matthews teen faces two counts of second degree rape, and one count of sexual battery.

Sombo played for East Mecklenburg last season, but transferred to Butler for his senior year.
