WINSTON-SALEM--We have an unfortunate update for you regarding Kate Thornton, the five-year-old girl with cancer.

Family friends tell us she passed away peacefully Sunday morning in her new home. It was just this week that the organization "Kisses for Kate" was able to put a down payment on a larger home for the family. Kate is survived by her mother and father as well as her four siblings.

The family is asking for no visitors or calls at this time, but said they welcome the community's continued support and prayers.
