FORT BRAGG -- People across the nation are recognizing women's contributions to society this week. Thursday is Women's Equality Day, but Fort Bragg is starting the celebration a little early. More than 200 female paratroopers are participating in events starting Wednesday.
They'll take park in an all-female airborne operation, a physical training session, as well as a seminar including panel and small group discussions.
Congress declared Aug. 26 as Women's Equality Day in 1971. The event marks the day, in 1920, when the 19th Amendment was ratified and gave women the right to vote.
