CHARLOTTE — A woman reaching for her cigarettes is charged in the wreck that killed one pedestrian and left another critically hurt.
Police said Leah Walton, 21, was driving her Wolkswagon Beetle on Craig Avenue on Sunday morning when she took her eyes off the road and reached into her purse. Her car crossed the center line and onto the side walk hitting Susan Karabulut, 33, who died on the scene. Lisa McTe, 47, was critically hurt.
Walton faces several charges including involuntary manslaughter, reckless driving and possession of marijuana.
