Police try to identify man hit by train in Moore County

ABERDEEN, N.C. -- Moore County authorities need help identifying a man hit that was hit by a train around 12:30 p.m. Saturday near Rays Mill Road in Aberdeen.

Police say the man was walking a beagle along the tracks when the dog ran in front of a train. They say the man tried to get the dog and was hit in the process.

The dog was killed and the man was taken to the hospital. There is no word on his condition.

Police say his first name could be Frank. He's described as a 40- or 50-year-old white man, about 5-foot-6 to 5-foot7 and weighing around 170 pounds. He has brown eyes and short grayish-brown hair. Police say the man was wearing a white T-shirt with camouflage pants.
