Japanese festival features drum and dance performances

CHARLOTTE -- This weekend the beat goes on in uptown Charlotte. The Bon Odori festival kicked off Friday and continues Saturday with plenty of activities including a Japanese drum performance.

The Matsuri-za are performing at the Wachovia Atrium on Tryon Street.

It is the largest yearly Japanese festival in the state and features Bon Odori dance performances, Japanese drum performances, a martial arts exhibition, tea exhibition and food.

It is free and open to the public.
