WASHINGTON, D.C. -- As we reach the end of July, officials say it's been the deadliest month for U.S. troops in the nine-year history of the war in Afghanistan.
Six more troops were reported killed Friday separate attacks, bringing this month's death toll to 66. That tops the previous record high set last month when 60 Americans were killed.
2010 is already one of the deadliest years, as well. More than 175 troops have died, and another 2,000 have been injured.
Fifteen Fort Bragg soldiers and five Camp Lejeune marines are among those who have died. Another soldier who died this month was from Murphy, N.C.
