DURHAM—The teenage boy hit by a car Wednesday evening in Durham is in critical condition.

Police said Derek Scott, 14, was riding his bike on Little River Drive and Buckhorn Road when he was hit. Authorities said Scott did not stop at a stop sign, causing him to collide into the side of a jeep driven by Michael Parker of Hurdle Mills.

They said Scott was taken to Duke Hospital to have surgery for multiple injuries.
