CARY, N.C. — Thousands of softball players from around the country are in the Triangle for the 2010 Pony Fast Pitch Softball National Championship.
The opening ceremony kicked off on Sunday Afternoon. There are nearly 120 teams from the United States and Canada participating in the fourth annual tournament. Coach Paul Hoover, Raleigh Jaycees, said it is a fun event for everyone.
"The girls love it here. We love having them, it's just a fantastic time as you can hear the music going on in the background. It's just a big party for the girls and they absolutely love it,” said Hoover.
Last year's tournament brought about 3,500 people and more than $2 million in revenue to the area. Official tournament play is Monday and Tuesday.
