CHAPEL HILL— State regulators have fined a Chapel Hill nursing home in which a nurse is accused of over-medicating patients.

The Department of Health and Human Services is recommending that the Britthaven Nursing Home pay a fine of $20,000, or the maximum allowed by Federal law. Angela Almore is charged with second degree murder and several counts of patient abuse.

Authorities say one Alzheimer's patient died and six others were hospitalized after the registered nurse gave them heavy doses of morphine.
