MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. – A new gallery on the Morehead City waterfront is reeling in some major attention.

Occhio Fishing Fine Art showcases the work of underwater photographer Marc Montocchio.

"My job is to get underwater and chase those baits and watch what happens, the color of the fish, how they behave," Montocchio said. "I think they appreciate that, and they can see it in the images."

The photos are printed on an aluminum background by a company in Lexington, N.C.

"So they are the only people in the country that will be able to print these sorts of images at this sort of quality at this sort of size," Montocchio said. "So it really is a North Carolina product."

With the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament coming up, Montocchio couldn't think of a better time to set up shop.

People have already stopped by the waterfront to check out his work.

"It just adds to what goes on around here," Morehead City resident Earl Killebrew said. "You know, the fishing, the fish and the fish scenes."

Publications like National Geographic have taken notice of Montocchio's work. Now he's hoping the big crowds that Big Rock draws in do the same.
