FAYETTEVILLE – Downtown Fayetteville capped off its 31 Days of Glory Monday with a Memorial Service and other events.

The memorial service was attended by hundreds who came out to pay respects to men and women in uniform.

Army wife Angela Blount took her son to the festivities to teach him the importance of Memorial Day.

"The children need to understand why mommy or daddy is over there and what it means to us back here and what they're doing over there," said Blount.

Other events Monday included a car show, live music and vintage military equipment and gear exhibits.
