News 14 Carolina's Jennifer Moxley has more on the storm's impact in the town of Spencer.

SPENCER, N.C. -- Residents of Spencer spent most of Monday morning surveying damage in their community. The storm hit around 6:45 p.m. Sunday and wreaked havoc on the small town.

It has not been determined whether a tornado touched down in the area, but high winds knocked over a sign at a Food Lion supermarket, ripped out some windows and damaged the Dollar General store in the same shopping plaza and a nearby museum.

The storm also sent a cargo freight container full of brochures cartwheeling through the air, leaving debris all around the Transportation Museum and leaving divots in the pavement.

The museum is normally closed Monday and it is expected to be back open Tuesday.
