CHARLOTTE – $1.7 million will go to Charlotte-area nonprofits through the Critical Need Response Fund. Grants have been awarded to eligible agencies that provide everything from heating assistance to shelter.
The Crisis Assistance Ministry is receiving more than $377,000 from the Critical Need Response Fund, which gives grants to nonprofits that serve the needy in Charlotte and all of Mecklenburg County thanks to donations from the community.
“They are people that we live and work with every day, that you may not know started their day at Crisis Assistance Ministry asking for just a couple of hundred dollars with their rent,” Carol Hardison, of the ministry, said.
The ministry will use the money to help more than 1,000 people keep the heat on and stay in their homes this winter.
Other recipients include A Child's Place, Hope Haven, The Salvation Army and Love Incorporated. In total, the Critical Need Response Fund has received more than $2.7 million in donations, and they're still being accepted.
If you'd like to donate, visit the Critical Need Response Fund's Web site, or send a check payable to the Foundation for the Carolinas to 217 South Tryon Street, Charlotte, N.C. 28202, with “Critical Need Response Fund” in the memo line.
