DAVIDSON, N.C. – WBT Morning Radio host Stacey Simms will be walking in the annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk this weekend at Carowind’s to help raise money for diabetes research.

Simms’ son, Benny, was diagnosed with diabetes when he was two, which means he’s got to prick his finger to test his blood up to eight times a day.

For Simms, it’s a balancing act between letting a boy be a boy and keeping his blood sugar levels within safe parameters.

Last year, participants raised more than $1 million for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Time Warner Cable and News 14 Carolina are sponsors of the event.
