WILMINGTON – Over 100 outdoor exhibitors set up displays at the Coastline Conference and Event Center and at the Schwartz Center during the Inaugural Cape Fear Wildlife Expo Saturday.

Event organizers said the Wilmington area needed an event like this, and there is something for outdoor enthusiast of all ages.

Those who attend can find supplies for fishing, camping and hunting and there is even some live animals to look at.

Event organizers and exhibitors said their goal was to make the public aware of the all the natural resources that are available along the coast and hope they realize why it's important to conserve them.

"I think unless we retain a good, active hunting and fishing community that we will slowly but surely begin to lose some of these natural resources as people start building more and more subdivisions, shopping malls and things like that," Mike Marsh, a freelance outdoor writer, said.

The Expo will continue on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
