CHARLOTTE -- Students at UNC Charlotte spent Earth Day taking the time to learn about the many ways they can help the environment.

The university’s Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling has sponsored such an event for the past 16 years.

"We just want to let people know and remind people that everything comes from the Earth and it's important we think of the choices that we make and our impact on the Earth and how we mine for our natural resources," said Devin Hatley, UNCC environmental educator.

The school’s Earth Club also sponsored an Earth Day celebration, which was held at the university’s Belk Tower. Vendors turned out to showcase their green initiatives and products to students.
