ELON, N.C. -- Students at Elon University are doing they're part to help locate missing alumni Kyle Fleischmann. Many drove down to Charlotte Tuesday night to help in the search only to drive back to Elon for classes on Wednesday.

Now both friends and fraternity brothers are working to get the word out and raise money to help in the search.

Even though they're more than 100 miles away from where Kyle Fleischmann disappeared they haven't given up the search. “We just want people to keep spreading the word, I mean we have no idea where Kyle could be at this point,” said Meredith Severs, Kyle’s friend

And that's why his friends and fraternity brother started an information booth in the Mosley student center. “And what we are trying to do is raise money and raise awareness for Kyle,” Scott Mackenzie, a Kappa Alpha Fraternity brother said.

They hope the money can go towards a reward. “It's really important that we get a reward out, because lots of times people like the homeless community or the under privileged won't want to go out and say if they saw a crime. Lot's of times they are afraid but if there's money involved lots of times they'll come forward,” Mackenzie said.

Students say they're just hoping to show that as a university they support the search and any information that could find Kyle.

“I think it just goes to show how much we love Kyle, it's been an awesome response that we've gotten through [Facebook.com] and you know now that the news is going national, it just goes to show that people are really coming together and that we really want to find Kyle,” Severs said.

And that's a gesture his family appreciates. “He loved Elon so much, he loved the people at Elon, it was his second home and he was so sad to leave when he graduated two years ago,” said Barbara Fleischmann, Kyle’s mother.

Students at Elon are also planning a candlelight vigil in the upcoming days to get the word out. Organizers say it will also give students and staff a chance to come together in a formal setting. The vigil is set for Thursday night at 9:30 p.m. at the Loy Center.
