CHARLOTTE -- As police continue to follow leads in the disappearance of 24-year-old Kyle Fleischmann, family members and friends are working hard to gain more resources, one of which might be appearing on national television.

Kyle’s father, Richard Fleischmann, is fielding calls from Larry King, Nancy Grace and Greta Van Susteren -- all hosts of national news shows interested in the mysterious disappearance of his son. He was last seen around 2:30 a.m. Friday at the Buckhead Saloon in uptown.

"[He had] no financial problems. There were no girlfriend problems. I mean, everything was going pretty well for a 24-year-old," he said.

His mother, Barbara, says when kids get to be a certain age, parents stop worrying so much, but family members and friends are worried now, and they refuse to wait for answers.

On Tuesday night, about 100 people tried tracking Kyle's last footsteps in uptown, handing out fliers, but they turned up empty.

The Kristen Foundation, named after Kristen Modafferi, a Charlotte student who went missing in 1997, has also joined the search, helping the Fleischmann family cover costs and providing innovative ideas for getting the word out. During Tuesday night’s Bobcats game, information was posted on the big screen at the arena.

"They just tell me what they need and the foundation can take care of that," Joan Petruski, of the Kristen Foundation. "Hopefully we can bring him home soon."

What makes this case unusual, his family says, is how close Kyle is with them. In just a few days, his mother will undergo surgery for breast cancer and they say Kyle has been with her every step of the way. He wouldn't just leave.

The Fleischmanns are working on a tip line and reward, hoping that could lead to some answers and ultimately Kyle's return.

CMPD is taking this case very seriously as they do all of their missing person cases. They are urging anyone with any information to call Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600.
