CHARLOTTE -- University of North Carolina at Charlotte alumni huddled Monday night to talk football.
This was one of three scheduled meetings to get outside input into whether the university wants and can support a Division 1 football team.
Starting a team is both time-consuming and costly. However, supporters argue it can build the school's reputation and unite the community.
The feasibility committee will meet in the coming month with students and faculty and staff to determine their interest in football. The committee will then make its recommendation to the chancellor in the first quarter of next year.
If still interested, the chancellor will present his recommendations to the board of trustees who will make the final decision.
