RALEIGH -- It has been two weeks since a young pregnant mother was found murdered at a Raleigh convenience store, and now her family is turning to the public for help in figuring out who killed her.
Jenna Nielsen, 22-years old, was delivering papers for USA Today when police say someone stabbed her to death. About 30 family members and friends of Nielsen turned out Saturday to put out fliers around the area where she was murdered.
“It’s hard for me to come out here and not think about where it is, where it was done, how it was done,” said Nielson’s father Kevin Blaine as he canvassed the area just across the street from where his daughter was murdered. “And right now, that’s my number one goal, to get this guy behind bars. And the more exposure we get, the better chance we have for someone to see it and to find this guy.”
Justice for Jenna
Nielsen’s family hopes a new $10,000 reward will lead someone to call in with the information that could eventually help catch her killer. Until then, family and friends say the outpouring of support from people in the community is comforting.
“You go from being deeply saddened, extremely emotional, to very angry, very upset and then back and forth, so it’s very difficult to deal with,” said family friend Kurt Measome.
Blaine agrees, “It’s heart wrenching really. It just tears me apart. It’s just hard.”
Looking for this man.
Police are still looking for this man (pictured at right) who they believe may have more information that could lead to the capture of Nielsen’s killer.
They believe he is Hispanic, in his late teens to early twenties, about 5 feet 3 inches tall and around 120 pounds. At the time of the murder, he had long, shiny black hair pulled back into a ponytail.
Anyone with information should call Raleigh Police at 919-227-6220.
