MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Wednesday marks one year since a Concord police officer was fatally shot inside his Iredell County home. His wife is charged with murder, but her trial date has still not been set.

Quinn Witherspoon, 34, a canine officer at the Concord Police Department, was found dead last year after being shot in the back of the head.

His wife, Misty, told police she accidentally dropped her husband's .40-caliber service weapon and that it went off. Police say she later gave them enough information to believe the shooting was not an accident.

Witherspoon remains out of jail on a $500,000 bond.
