Aggies kick off fall sports season
GREENSBORO -- The Aggie football season unofficially kicked off Saturday as North Carolina A&T held its Football Fun Fest and media day to introduce not only the 2008 football team but also volleyball team members, the band and the Aggie cheerleaders.

Plenty of fans came out to show their support and even got an autograph from some of their favorite players.

The football team is coming off of two losing seasons, the last one marred by controversy after the Aggie-Eagle Classic ended in an on-field fight.

At Saturday's meet-and-greet event with fans, head coach Lee Fobbs talked about how the team is focused on good sportsmanship this year and having a winning season.

"It's very unfortunate that that happened and we as coaches and administrators, we have to continue to make sure that that doesn't continue to happen,” Fobbs said. “Enthusiasm is high, the offseason was great, [and] today is an outstanding day. We've got all the fans out today, kids have practices well through camp, school has started… You know, what better way to start the season with a win.”

The 80th annual competition between the N.C. Central Eagles and N.C. A&T will be played at Charlotte's Memorial Stadium Oct. 4.
