CHARLOTTE -- The Charlotte Bobcats formally introduced new head coach, Mike Dunlap on Wednesday.
Team officials made the announcement during a press conference at the Time Warner Cable Arena.
Dunlap was an assistant at St. John's University and last season served as its interim head coach while Steve Lavin was on medical leave.
As a head coach, he won two NCAA Division II Championships with Metropolitan State College, but this is his first head coaching position in the NBA.
He promises an up-tempo style.
“Develop the youth,” said Dunlap. “Teach the youth and bring it along, so that people can actually see that we play a style of basketball that's very aggressive. It's attack basketball, both offensively and defensively.”
Dunlap also served two years as an assistant in the pros with the Denver Nuggets.
