TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – With the NBA season still a few months away, rookies of the league got a chance to dress in their new team jerseys to get photographed for their NBA rookie trading cards.

Future Bobcats guard and former Duke Blue Devil, Gerald Henderson, took part in the shoot at the MSG Training Center in Tarrytown, New York. Henderson still hasn’t officially signed on with the team, but will be looking forward to the chance to pitch in this fall.

For now, getting his face on a trading card is pretty cool.

“It feels great,” said Henderson. “We’ve had it with the McDonald’s game and a little bit in college, but to finally be a pro and have a card is pretty cool.”

The Tar Heels also have some players making splashes with new teams, as Ty Lawson is excited about joining the Denver Nuggets with a chance at a playoff run. Meanwhile, Tyler Hansbrough is nursing a shin injury that has kept him off the floor and most likely will for two months.

The two will now have to work on making the transition from a national championship college team to NBA clubs.

“I can’t get rid of this Carolina blue, but I love the Denver Nuggets,” said Lawson. “It should be a good team next year, and this is my lifelong dream to wear a NBA jersey so I can’t wait to play for them.”

Wake Forest is getting some representation in the league, as James Johnson is making the move to the Chicago Bulls and Jeff Teague is heading down the road to Atlanta.

Both former Demon Deacons are excited to get started, because they’ve been lucky enough to join teams with a chance to make a run in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

“I’m going to a playoff team; a contender, that’s the biggest thing for me,” said Teague.

Last but not least, former Davidson guard Stephen Curry got a chance to check out his new digs in the Golden State blue.

The sharp-shooting player had an outstanding summer league performance and is looking to make an impact right away out west. To get a chance to go from a mid-major school to the NBA is not lost on Curry.

“It’s awesome; a dream come true to me,” said Curry of his new trading card. “I use to collect them when I was a kid growing up, and if I had my collection and saw my face in there, it’d be pretty cool.”
