RALEIGH -- Six football players from two Moore County high schools have been reported for fighting following a bench-clearing brawl Friday.

Multiple players and coaches from Pinecrest and Union Pines high schools left the sidelines when an altercation broke out during their game. Three players from each team were ejected.

North Carolina High School Athletic Association rules state if either team totals six ejections for any reason or three ejections for fighting, that team is barred from the playoffs that year.

News 14 Carolina spoke with Steve Adams, the director of WEEB, a Moore County radio station that broadcast Friday's game. He says there were five incidents of unsportsmanlike conduct before the fight and the officials should have seen it coming.

"Everybody in the stands saw it coming. I saw it coming. Everyone in the booth saw it coming. Everyone in the stands saw it coming. Why these professionals referees couldn't see it coming is beyond me," he said.

The NCHSAA will make a final ruling.
