CHARLOTTE -- The Charlotte Eagles got their shot at a worldwide name with a huge crowd on hand at UNC Charlotte's Transamerica Field Wednesday as they faced the English Premier League's Bolton Wanderers.

Unfortunately for them early on in the eighth minute, Gary Cahill scored for Bolton off the corner kick with the header.

But the eagles had their chances as Leo Gibson got the cross in the middle and tried to score with one touch, but his shot sailed high.

In the second half down 2-0, Miguel Ferrer had a shot but that one went high of the cross bar as well.

Bolton would score again late, this time Mustapha Riga had the goal. Bolton took the win 3-0 over Charlotte, a good battle though on the field tonight.
