Robert Rotanz scored a career-best five goals, leading Duke to 17-6 victory against Colgate on Sunday in the NCAA men's lacrosse quarterfinals. The Cape Fear Soccer Association held its 19th Seaside Soccer Classic this weekend. This year's event featured 287 teams from the Carolinas, Virginia and Georgia and each squad played at least three games during the weekend.

Jimmie Johnson won his third All-Star race on Saturday night by pulling away over the 10-lap sprint to the $1 million prize. Johnson joins Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon as the only three-time winner in All-Star race history. His other victories were in 2003 and 2006.

I'll Have Another overtook Bodemeister down the stretch to win the Preakness and keep alive his hopes of winning the Triple Crown. In a race that was a virtual repeat of the Kentucky Derby, I'll Have Another raced from behind Saturday to beat pace-setter Bodemeister, who also finished second in the Derby.

Jason Dufner shot a 1-under 69 on Saturday, enough to keep a one-stroke lead heading into the final round of the Byron Nelson Championship. On a day when nine players had or shared the lead, Dufner was the one on top alone for the second day in a row when play was done. He was at 8-under 202.

Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford spoke to The Associated Press by phone Wednesday from the meeting site in Amelia Island, Fla. He says Florida State's situation "wasn't brought up in any formal way'' and says the meetings were "business as usual as we move ahead with becoming a 14-team league.''
