RALEIGH – The federal government will investigate complaints over the Wake County School Board's plan to scrap the diversity busing policy.
The U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights says it will look into complaints filed by the state NAACP.
The NAACP is concerned the system's plans to move away from the diversity busing policy will lead to re-segregation in Wake County schools.
NAACP President William Barber says he's pleased the Department of Education is taking up the issue.
