I don't think he can; but I think the party will unite itself on one issue - "anti-Obama". The fact is most all Republicans, even those that do not like Mitt, will likely still vote for him as a means to vote against Obama. Now that Mitt basically has the nomination barring any craziness (which is certainly possible) we'll see a shift towards moderates. He knows that much of the far right will do nearly anything to prevent Obama's re-election, so they'll vote for the "lesser of two evils" in their minds. It will be an interesting race for sure.

No, the Tea Party is too strong and the hard core Right wingers are in control on the base. The key to victory is the independent vote which is quite large. I really don't know what Romney stands for and at this point I can't stand either party. The national turn off is huge.

Uniting the Republican party won't be hard to do given Obama's dismal record. I guess 2 years as a community organizer just wasn't enough experience to lead the greatest nation in the world.

He already has. If you think not, sadly, you must be still sitting around, with a thumb up where the moon don't shine, waiting for your latest installment of Hope and Change.

No, the teabaggers think he's too moderate, the moderates think he's a flip-flopper, women don't trust him, Santorum thinks he's the worst one to run against the president, the christians distrust him because he's a Mormon, the middle class understand he is for the wealthy and that's all, and the man is a pathological liar, making stuff up and then denying it as though nobody was watching him. Let me amend that, it would take at least 5 or 6 of the past and present Mitt's to unite the party, but which one will be running? All of them? The most conservative one or two of them? Heh. Like fish in a barrel. Big, fat, rich, slow-moving fish. He's going to lose the house of representatives for the R's too.
I still think you should have picked Newt

It's not a question if he can, I would vote Rep. no matter who was running, just to get Obama out.
Mike of Charlotte

Obama is doing that for him.
ready to vote

Everyone seems to forget the dems were at each other's throats 4 years ago. Everyone will unite and vote the current POTUS out!!
Heading back to Chi-town

Yes, All Republicans and most Independence want Obama out.
Dixieboy

No. He's a tool just like the rest of the Republicrats. Ron Paul is the only answer.
The Truth

Yes - although he doesn't need to. Obama has already united the Republican party with his poor performance over the past three years.

Not sure: While Mitt seems to have some good attack angles on the Obozo, I'm bothered by some things: first, the perception that he's a big-money capitalist who doesn't care about or appreciate the challenges of the regular Joe; next, he has yet to gain the attention and support of young voters; next, he has yet to galvanise the female vote; next, the evangelical Tea-Party folks who loved Santorum are yet to follow him. These points represent serious baggage that the Obozo can and will hammer away at.. However we do it, the Obozinator has to go, but I worry that Romney might not be able to pull it off. So, what about a brokered candidate at Tampa (whomever)? The one guy who has the experience to be a broker (not the candidate) is Newt. One thing for sure, we can't afford another VP candidate who isn't READY to jump into the breach.

Yes - Mr. Romney has been successful in business and government, and has demonstrated that he knows how to lead. Perhaps more importantly, he has a vision for this country that includes personal responsibility and freedom for all; as opposed to the current President's belief that he should "rule" all. Mr. Romney was not my first choice, but now that he has prevailed, I will give him 100% of my support. Mr. Obama must be sent back to Chicago.

OBAMA IS A TRATIOR PUT THAT IN YOUR PIPE AN SMOKE IT, EVERY THING HE HAS DONE HAS BROUGHT THIS COUNTRY TO THE BRINK. DEM'S JUST WALK AROUND LOOKING FOR HOPE AND CHANGE,BUT ITS NOT UP OBAMA'S BACKSIDE,IT WILL TAKE HARD WORK,NOT HANDOUTS FROM DAD OR MOM,GET A JOB OH THATS RIGHT WE GOT HEALTH CARE AND 5+TRI TO PAY FOR AS I SAID BEFOR STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES DEM'S

No. More and more evangelical are saying they will refuse to vote for a cultist and will either stay home or vote 3rd party. We may see Tea Party 3rd party candidate emerge or a libertarian Ron Paul or John Huntsman pull a lot of votes away from Romney in the general election. It will be a disaster for the already floundering GOP.

Not even God can unite a bunch of 'hate whoever isn't like me's. Hilarious that a party who touts American values can't get past being the least accepting of the melting pot theme that makes America great in every way! They are destroying our country!
Obama will carry NC

It was under the Democrat watch that we found and killed Osama Bin Laden! Republicans are do-nothings who are scared of their own creepy shadows.
