WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama addressed the nation today following the Supreme Court's ruling. He dismissed the idea of a political win, focusing on what he called a win for all Americans.
The president did discuss some of the plan's highlights, which he said will have had bipartisan support.
"We ultimately included a provision in the Affordable Care Act that people who can afford to buy health insurance should take the responsibility to do so," said Obama. "In fact, this idea has enjoyed support from members of both parties, including the current Republican nominee for president."
Obama signed the health care bill into law in March 2010.
