RALEIGH -- Some unusually loud noises could be heard Wednesday outside the Legislative Building in Raleigh. Residents gathered for a pots and spoons protest against what they call an out-of-control General Assembly.

Many want lawmakers to put the Marriage Amendment back on the ballot so it can possibly be overturned. Other issues they talked about were the underfunding of public education, protecting the environment and protecting the rights of voters.

"I just think it's important to tell the General Assembly that we don't like the direction that they're taking the state and it's important to inform the people of the state just how extreme this General Assembly really is,” said Greenville resident Adam Linker.
